Ramirent & Haulotte: powering safer, greener access in Poland

Ramirent is one of the most established equipment rental players in Poland, combining nationwide coverage with a broad portfolio designed to support customers across construction, industry, logistics and infrastructure. In this interview, Jarosław Adamowicz, Head of Fleet & Sourcing Europe Central and Board Member at Ramirent S.A., shares how the company navigates Poland’s highly competitive rental environment, how demand is evolving toward electrification and higher reach, and why strong partnerships, especially with Haulotte, are key to delivering performance and safety, even in demanding live-event conditions.

A nationwide leader in a highly competitive market

Operating in Poland since 2001, Ramirent has built one of the country’s strongest rental infrastructures, with around 46 warehouses and four large logistics centers.
Jarosław describes the company’s position clearly: “Ramirent Poland is absolutely number one in the rental industry here in this region by the complexity of the solution and fleet we are offering.” Since 2019, Ramirent has also been part of the Loxam Group, adding European scale and long-term strategic support. As he explains, “since 2019, we have been part of Loxam, which is the biggest rental company in Europe,” enabling Ramirent to combine “a very local hands-on approach” with international know-how and standards.

Poland remains one of the most competitive rental markets in Europe, and like most markets, it follows construction cycles and macroeconomic volatility. Jarosław notes that “the last two years the market environment wasn’t perfect for us,” and explains how competition intensifies when project pipelines slow down: “there is a surplus of equipment on the market, and everybody is struggling a little bit.”

In this context, Ramirent’s resilience comes from its generalist model and diversified portfolio. “Since we are a generalized rental company, and have eight product groups, we are surviving the challenging environment,” he says.

Fleet trends: higher reach, electrification and smarter equipment

In access equipment, Ramirent sees two strong demand drivers: the need for bigger machines and the accelerating shift toward electric platforms. Jarosław highlights that Poland still has room to develop the segment of large boom lifts: “in Poland we have still an insufficient number of big booms… all the booms over 20 meters, I think there is still area for developing.” This trend is reinforced by urban densification and the fact that “all the infrastructure are getting higher and higher so the height matters.”

At the same time, electrification is becoming central to fleet strategy, driven by sustainability requirements and stricter regulations. “There is this eco European driven direct trajectory to of course increase number of electric machines. Not only scissors but also electric booms,” Jarosław says. Beyond carbon footprint considerations, he points to real operational advantages: “these electric machines, they have very strong torque,” they offer “zero emission,” and flexibility because “we can work with them inside, outside which gives the flexibility for us and for our customers.”

Electric scissor lifts remain essential in Ramirent’s portfolio due to their versatility. Jarosław calls them the company’s “bread and butter,” noting they historically represented “60 to 70% of our fleet portfolio thanks to their unlimited application.”

This fleet evolution is also an area of strong alignment with Haulotte. Jarosław summarizes the partnership simply: “Haulotte is perfectly fitting into that strategy.” For him, manufacturers and rental companies must evolve together to meet market expectations: “suppliers and Haulotte and our Loxam and Ramirent countries, we’re going hand in hands with the needs and market expectation and customer demands. When a manufacturer and a rental company truly collaborate, as we do with Haulotte, we can deliver solutions that are not only technologically advanced but also exceptionally safe for operators and site teams. »

From construction to motocross & BMX : delivering global solutions under all circumstances

While construction, logistics, industrial projects and renovation remain the core drivers of demand, Ramirent is increasingly active in niche applications such as major live events, where complexity is high and reliability is visible. Jarosław explains that Ramirent wants to demonstrate its expertise beyond traditional sectors: “more and more, we would like to show our presence and our professionalism to the niche sectors.” Over the past years, the company has become a trusted partner for Poland’s biggest motorsport shows: “we’ve been selected to be number one of choice already for three, four years for the greatest and biggest motorsport events.”

⚠️ This image shows an improper use of an aerial work platform during an event. It was supervised by the organizers and meticulously prepared to ensure the safety of participants. As a manufacturer, Haulotte reminds that aerial work platforms usage in normal circumstances is subject to very strict rules. Guardrails must never be removed or lowered when the platform is elevated. Do not replicate.

In events like Freestyle Heroes, aerial work platforms support lighting, rigging, banners, screens and camera positioning. “Electric scissors are used for these banners, screens, lighting,” Jarosław says, adding that platforms are also used for filming and show operations. Sometimes, machines are integrated so discreetly that spectators don’t even notice them. These environments are demanding: “there is heat smoke, high-speed vehicles around, a lot of movements, a lot of people everywhere,” which makes the combination of right people, right equipment and right features essential.

Machine performance and safety technology become critical success factors. Jarosław highlights built-in safety systems such as “Haulotte Activ’Shield Bar, the FASTN system,” as well as a “very good performance of the batteries” and an “extended battery program.” He also points to the need for power and torque in unconventional operations: they are solid, strong with the big power, with the big torque. Events at this level prove that Ramirent’s strength comes from combining the best equipment with highly committed technical teams who can react instantly and create one seamless professional environment together with organizers. »

Safety culture and teamwork: the key differentiator

Safety is a non-negotiable priority, especially when equipment operates near an active track and in front of thousands of spectators. Jarosław is clear: “safety matters the most.” He explains that these events are under strict oversight: “the whole event is under a special watch always, and we make sure to enforce the strictest safety measures.”

Ramirent’s approach combines machine technology, planning, and operational readiness, including strong technical support on-site. A decisive element is the ability to react instantly: “our unbeatable maintenance and repair crew is available 24-7, preventing downtime and ensuring continuity. Behind every successful project, from large construction sites to the most demanding live events, stand our people.”

Delivering such projects also requires close cooperation with organizers, producers and technical partners. Jarosław describes the approach as fully collaborative: “we are becoming one team for this event.”

Ramirent’s role goes beyond equipment supply, because the reputational stakes are high. That is why, he concludes, “we are not treating our role as a rental company, we are selling total solution,” reflecting Ramirent’s ambition to be recognized as a quality-driven partner delivering safe, reliable and future-ready solutions across Poland.
